This is just a story of deals I found from my six trips to vegas! |
|
The Deals are There, Just Learn Where to Look!
Want to go to Las Vegas but not sure you can afford it? Well, there are ways to go and have a lot of fun while not breaking the bank. The thing about Las Vegas is they want to pull you in, so there are
lots of free things to do while you are there. They just hope you will gamble and there are so many fun things to do for low or no cost because they hope THAT will get you to gamble.
Your hotel room will have free publications in it that offer some great coupons. You'll find other coupons and deals in the Las Vegas trolley, inside your cab, and all throughout Las Vegas. If you are like me, you want to have your ducks in a row first. Well,
there are ways to plan all kinds of fun activities and choose from them once you get there.
Most of the slots have a payout rate of 85-90%. Slots on the strip are believed to be set at a lower rate (they get more gamblers regardless). A good rule of thumb is to hit the casinos that are considered to be local hangouts, you may find better payouts.
The denomination on the machine, if you want to hit it "big", has to do with the payout odds also. Higher percentage payouts for $1 machines, for instance, compared to a nickel machine. Then again, you lose more also. It's a calculated risk.
We've done pretty well on our trips, such as this photo below, of where I won $5,000 on our honeymoon in 2000. We went with $300 spending cash, and I was just about out of money when this happened. You never know when Vegas will surprise you!

Deal Examples: |
|
If you want an example of how to use coupon deals to save money, there is a breakdown from our trip in July 2007, and this does not include the money I saved by being smart with airfare and our car rental. There are many things you can do to save money!
Here's a break down on some of the deals I got:
Hotel Deals:
- 2 Nights at Binions, normally $120 plus tax (purchased on Ebay)--I paid $40 total (no tax). Saved $80
- 3 Nights at the Orleans, normally $59 a night plus tax (Deal found online, Orleans matched it for me)--I paid $49 for the first night, the 2nd night free, $49 the third night plus a coupon for a free breakfast buffet. Saved $79
Meal Deals:
- 3 buy one get one free meals at the Orleans Buffet, with a three free meal (I traded coupons on a forum, from the American Casino Guide book to get multiples)savings of $45
- 1 free seafood buffet at Terrible's (Coupon bought off Ebay), savings of $15
- 1 free breakfast at Binion's (comp from husband's poker play) $6 savings of $6
- 1 free lunch buffet at Main Street Station (Coupon from American Casino Guide)savings of $10
- 2 free breakfast buffets at the Orleans (booking coupon, came with the deal I found online that the Orleans matched), savings of $16
Things to Do:
- Admission for 2 to the Liberace Museum (purchased on Ebay, much to my husband's horror), regular $25 plus tax, paid $8 with no tax. Savings of $17
Total Savings of $268
Our savings were actually much higher because we booked early through an airline deal, and airfare for the both of us combined was $320. I also got a great deal online for a car, which was $70 cheaper than the next cheapest
provider!

I've Won Money! |
|

On this trip I won $5k on a dollar slot at the Orleans on our Honeymoon in 2000. I'm all about the budget but I decided to splurge with $20. I was up about $240 and decided I'd keep that money no matter what, and put another $20 in to
protect myself from changing my mind. I was down to $8 and up came a 10X, then another 10X, then next a red 7! This was on a 1 coin bet, and a little old lady walked by and yelled at me for not betting the max, lol. Who knows if it would have
hit if I'd bet $2 (which is just too steep for me) but it turned out just fine! I'm sure this will never happen to me again, but it was such a rush!
The Orleans is a local gambling favorite, and I can see why! It's my favorite place to stay, the restaurants are affordable (well, at least compared to what you find on the strip) and we have done well gambling. On one trip I won $600 right before we left, and it ended up paying off the credit card for the trip!
We've stayed so far, at Binion's, the Riviera, and the Orleans. I would recommend the Orleans highly. Join their email list off their website if you want to get emails for great offers. You can also join their player's club online. It's a higher rated hotel than all or most of the others
that are of the same price. It also has a free shuttle that drops you off outside Bill's Gambling Hall (which is on the strip, by Bally's) so it's a viable option if you aren't renting a car. The drop off point is great because it is literally right in the middle of the strip.
